PCM-ZC-0191 is a GEMnet Z-coded to six A-coded high-speed data breakout cable designed for automotive electronics systems. A single six-channel main connector provides six independent branches, allowing multiple physical interfaces to be consolidated at the controller end while each branch is routed according to the location of its sensor or electronic module.

The assembly is intended for equipment with a corresponding six-channel port configuration, helping reduce repetitive main-end connector arrangements and improve harness organization. It is a passive physical interconnect, not an Ethernet switch, protocol converter or active signal splitter.

Installation Requirements: Confirm Ports, Space and Branch Paths

Before installation, verify the exact equipment-side connector part numbers, Z/A coding, contact types, pin assignment and six-channel allocation. Visual similarity alone is not sufficient toestablish compatibility. Standard lengths of 0.5m, 1m and 2m accommodate different equipmentdistances. Engineers should allow sufficient mating clearance, cable bend radius and restraintlocations, avoiding continuous tensile loads at the breakout and connector exits. The assemblyshould not be treated as a waterproof interconnect without specific verification.

Manufacturing Process: Controlled Ending and Road-by-Road Examination

The assembly uses LEONI Dacar 686-3 Ethernet cable and specified TE GEMnet connectors.Manufacturing should follow the applicable connector specifications for cable stripping, contactcrimping, differential-pair handling, shield termination and harness restraint. Each of the sixbranches must be checked against the drawing to prevent channel crossovers or incorrect shieldconnections. Production inspection is based on the specified continuity, Hi-Pot and mechanicalrequirements.

Service Life: Reduce Mechanical Stress and Maintain Connection Status

The drawing specifies a minimum cable retention force of 110N and an operatingtemperature range of -40°C to 105°C, providing design criteria for mechanical and thermalsuitability in automotive environments. Proper harness restraint avoidance of excessive bendingclean connector interfaces and correct mating procedures help reduce the risk of contact issues andcable damage during long-term use.

Product Features

Six-Channel Z-Coded Main Connector

The TE 1-2428482-4 six-position Z-coded main connector consolidates six independent
data channels into one interface for compatible multi-port equipment.

Six Independent A-Code Branches

Six TE 2368003-1 A-coded branches provide individual channel connections, allowingseparate routing and identification for devices positioned throughout the system.

LEONI Dacar 686-3 Cable

The specified LEONI automotive Ethernet cable, combined with a 100O nominal impedancedesign, provides a defined physical interconnect foundation for high-speed differential signals.

Three Standard Lengths

Available in 0.5m, 1m and 2m versions, the assembly allows selection according to controller-to-device distances and helps reduce unnecessary cable slack.

Infotainment and High-Speed Data Modules

Suitable for infotainment, display and high-speed data processing modules with matching GEMnet interfaces, providing a consolidated main connection and individually routed differential branches.

Core Performance Advantages

●    Improve multi-channel system integration efficiency

The consolidated six-channel main end reduces repetitive connector arrangements at thecontroller and creates a more organized cable exit. Independent branches can be routed accordingto equipment locations, reducing harness crossings and clearance risks while improving assembly and maintenance accessibility.

●    Simplify Connection Path and Material Management

Directly constructing the Z-coded to six A-coded connection with specified GEMnetinterfaces can reduce unnecessary intermediate adapters between compatible devices, lowering thenumber of connection points and simplifying bills of materials, assembly steps and interface inspection.

●    Easier to verify high-speed links road by road

Six independent differential channels and a defined pin assignment support individualcontinuity, shielding and high-speed performance checks. Complete link testing enables evaluationof insertion loss, return loss and channel margin, reducing risks associated with unverified cable combinations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:Can PCM-ZC-0191 split one Ethernet port into six network ports?

A1: No. It is a passive six-channel physical breakout assembly. The host equipment mustprovide the corresponding six independent channels; the cable does not perform switching, routing or protocol conversion.

Q2:Is it compatible with all GEMnet Z and A encoding devices?

A2:Not necessarily. Verify exact connector part numbers, coding, contact gender, pinassignment, differential-pair mapping, PHY, protocol and equipment port requirements. Mechanical mating does not guarantee electrical compatibility.

Q3: Is the product waterproof?

A3:The drawing does not specify an IP rating, so the assembly should not be advertised aswaterproof. TE also identifies the listed connector housings as non-sealable. Applications involvingmoisture or outdoor exposure require separate evaluation of sealing and environmental protection.
