Over the past few months, we've been getting more inquiries about Mini FAKRA cable assemblies - especially from teams working on camera systems and prototype vehicles.
In many cases, the request is actually quite simple:
they already have a working HFM connection, but need a way to extend or adapt it during testing without redesigning the whole harness.
That's exactly why we decided to release two standard options based on real project needs:
- PCM-ZC-0118 – Mini FAKRA Male to Female Cable
- PCM-ZC-0117 – Mini FAKRA Female to Female Cable
Why These HFM Cables Were Developed
One common issue with the current High-Speed FAKRA-Mini (HFM) Interconnect System is that most harnesses are fixed-length and designed for production vehicles.
But during development, things change:
- camera positions get adjusted
- ECUs are temporarily relocated
- test benches don't match vehicle layouts
And at that point, engineers just need a reliable extension, not a new harness.
These two HFM extension cable solutions are meant to handle exactly those situations.
Two Configurations, Based on Real Use Cases
Mini FAKRA Male to Female Cable (PCM-ZC-0118)
This version is typically used as a Mini FAKRA Extension Cable when extending an existing connection.
Plug: AMS12A-1M4Z5-Z
Jack: AMK16A-1M4Z5-Z
You'll usually see this in:
- ADAS camera debugging
- temporary routing inside prototype vehicles
- quick adjustments during system validation
Mini FAKRA Female to Female Cable (PCM-ZC-0117)
The HFM Female To Female Cable is a bit more specific - mainly used when two plug connectors need to be connected together.
Both ends use:
- AMK16A-1M4Z5-Z (HFM Jack)
This comes up quite often in:
- bench testing setups
- interface bridging between modules
- lab environments where standard harnesses don't fit
Built with Proven Components
Both cable assemblies use original Rosenberger Mini FAKRA connectors and LEONI DACAR 302-4 coax.
Nothing unusual here - just components that are already widely used in automotive applications.
In terms of performance, these cables are suitable for typical ADAS camera cable and RF signal transmission scenarios, where stable impedance and shielding matter more than anything else.
Where They Fit in Today's Vehicle Architecture
We're seeing more adoption of High-Speed FAKRA Mini Coaxial Cable Solution in:
- multi-camera ADAS systems
- compact ECU layouts
- high-density harness designs
Compared with traditional FAKRA connector, the HFM system simply makes it easier to handle multiple channels in a limited space.
That said, these extension cables are still mostly used in:
- development
- testing
- low-volume builds
For mass production, the final harness design usually depends on OEM requirements.
About Us
Premier Cable is a HFM cable manufacturer and automotive cable factory focused on custom cable assemblies.
Most of what we do is not standard products - it's project-based:
- different cable lengths
- specific key coding
- small batch builds for testing
- quick turnaround for engineering teams
These two cables are just a starting point, based on what customers have been repeatedly asking for.
If you're working on Automotive Ethernet camera cable, Mini Fakra cable, or other high-speed automotive cable projects and need something similar, feel free to reach out.
We can usually help with:
- quick samples
- small batch production
- or custom variations based on your setup
