The function of a DMX terminator is to prevent the signal from being reflected at the end of the line. In a DMX512 control system, the signal is transmitted through a long cable. Without a terminator, the signal may be reflected back at the end of the cable, causing interference, flickering of lighting equipment, or malfunction. The terminator is usually a 120-ohm resistor connected to the last device in the DMX link to absorb the remaining signal, thereby ensuring stable operation of the system.
