Premier Cable PCM-HD-0307 is an automotive-grade USB Type-C high-speed cable assembly based on the Hirose AU1 Series interface architecture. Designed around the AU1MS-24S-HU/C(805) connector system, it combines the high-speed capabilities of USB Type-C with the mechanical locking, mating assurance and vibration resistance required for automotive electronic modules.
Unlike conventional consumer USB-C connectors that mainly rely on mating friction, automotive connections are continuously exposed to vibration, thermal cycling and harness movement. Even slight connector movement can lead to intermittent contact, display interruption, USB device disconnection or data loss.
PCM-HD-0307 integrates a 24-position USB Type-C high-speed interface into an AU1 automotive connector housing with locking interfaces on both ends. Compared with ordinary Type-C cables, it emphasizes positive retention, CPA mating assurance and mechanical stability for fixed high-speed connections between in-vehicle electronic modules.

Why Automotive USB-C Needs Positive Locking?
One of the key differences between automotive USB Type-C and conventional consumer USB-C is that automotive systems require more than convenient mating-they require secure long-term mechanical retention.
Road vibration, chassis movement, harness inertia and continuous thermal cycling can all introduce mechanical stress at the connector. In a fixed module-to-module installation, ordinary Type-C connectors may be more susceptible to micro-movement, intermittent contact or accidental disengagement.
Automotive USB-C systems therefore add features such as CPA, primary and secondary locking, mechanical keying and reinforced housings, transforming the familiar Type-C interface into a more secure automotive wire-to-board interconnect.
