Description

A NMEA 2000 termination resistor is a device used in NMEA 2000 networks to ensure proper signal communication and data transmission. It is used to terminate the ends of the NMEA 2000 backbone to ensure proper data transmission and prevent signal reflections that can cause data errors.

In a NMEA 2000 network, data is transmitted through the network by electrical signals. These signals can be reflected back and forth between the two ends of the network, creating noise and data errors. To prevent this, termination resistors are used to absorb the signals and eliminate reflections.

A NMEA 2000 network requires two terminating resistors, one at each end of the backbone. The terminating resistors have a resistance of 120 ohms, which is the standard resistance for terminating NMEA 2000 networks. By terminating the network properly, the data transmission is stable, reliable and free of errors.
