PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE GUIDE

XT60 Circular Panel-Mount Power Extension Cable: Features, Applications and Selection Guide

PCM-0532 is an XT60 circular panel-mount DC power extension cable featuring a panel-side XT60 male and cable-side XT60 female connector with 16AWG 2-core UL2464 PVC cable, approximately 6mm OD and 300mm standard length. Red positive and black negative conductors simplify identification and maintenance, while the fixed panel interface supports solar storage, portable power stations, battery systems, mobile lighting, power boxes and other low-voltage DC equipment.

This article focuses on the PCM-0532 XT60 Circular Panel Mount Power Extension Cable and explains the engineering relationship between XT60 DC power interfaces, circular panel mounting, 16AWG two-core power cable, UL2464 PVC construction, polarity management, solar systems and portable energy-storage equipment.

A conventional XT60 extension cable primarily provides cable to cable connectivity between two devices. PCM-0532 addresses an additional requirement: converting the XT60 interface into a fixed equipment power port.

By securing the XT60 male interface to a power box, control enclosure, energy-storage unit or other equipment housing, the assembly creates an organized external DC power port. Internally, the 300mm cable continues to an XT60 female interface or corresponding power module.

It is therefore not only an XT60 extension cable but also a panel-mount DC power interconnect solution for equipment integration.

Quick Product Introduction

PCM-0532 uses a circular panel-mounted XT60 male connector as the fixed equipment interface, with an XT60 female connector on the internal cable side.

The two interfaces are connected using 16AWG two-core UL2464 PVC cable with an approximate outer diameter of 6mm. The standard length is 300mm, with custom lengths available according to internal equipment layout.

What Is an XT60 Circular Panel Mount Power Extension Cable?

XT60 is a common two-pole DC power interface widely used in battery packs, RC, FPV, solar power and portable energy storage.

PCM-0532 adds a circular panel-mount structure to a conventional XT60 harness, securing the external XT60 to the equipment housing and connecting it through 16AWG two-core cable to an internal power module, controller or battery.

This converts a free-hanging connector into a stable, serviceable equipment power interface.

Power Path:

External XT60 → Panel-Mount XT60 → 16AWG Cable → Internal XT60 → Power Module

What Is UL2464 Cable ?

UL2464 is a multi-conductor AWM cable style typically using insulated conductors with a PVC outer jacket, with historical ratings commonly listed as 80°C and 300Vac.

PCM-0532 uses 16AWG two-core UL2464 cable for positive and negative DC power transmission.

Compliance with UL2464 cable style does not mean the complete cable assembly is UL certified; the finished harness must be evaluated separately.

Common Industrial Ethernet Challenges

01
Conventional XT60 Extensions Lack a Fixed Interface

Conventional XT60 extension cables have free-hanging connectors, making interface positioning, appearance and maintenance less convenient in power boxes, energy-storage systems or control enclosures. PCM-0532 secures XT60 to the housing through a panel-mount structure, creating a stable external power port.
02
Reduce Mechanical Stress on Internal Wiring

When a power cable passes directly through the housing, pulling and repeated mating may transfer mechanical loads to the PCB, battery or power terminals. A panel-mounted XT60 fixes the interface position, allowing the enclosure to absorb more external force and reducing stress on internal wiring.

03
Conventional XT60 Extension vs PCM-0532

Conventional XT60 extensions use a cable-to-cable structure suited to temporary connections. PCM-0532 uses a panel-to-cable design with one end fixed to the equipment housing, providing a defined interface, cleaner routing and better integration for power boxes and portable energy-storage equipment.

Compatibility Statement

Compatibility Verification

PCM-0532 is designed for XT60 DC power systems with matching interface, gender, voltage, current, polarity and cable gauge. The same XT60 connector does not guarantee electrical compatibility. Verify working voltage, continuous/peak current, battery type, polarity and protection circuitry before connection to prevent reverse polarity, overcurrent or equipment damage.

Technical Compatibility Notice

16AWG defines conductor size, not a fixed safe current rating for PCM-0532. Actual current capacity depends on conductor construction, cable length, XT60 contact resistance, termination quality, ambient temperature, heat dissipation and duty cycle. High-current applications should undergo complete-harness temperature-rise testing, and UL2464 cable does not mean the complete assembly is UL certified.

Selection Guide

How to Select the Right Product ?

1

Verify XT60 Gender and Polarity First

Confirming that the equipment "uses XT60" is not sufficient. The required male/female configuration and positive/negative polarity must also be defined.

Provide the mating connector, positive pin, negative pin and equipment voltage when ordering.

Reversed polarity can damage equipment, so the formal drawing should control the final pin assignment.

2

Select Wire Gauge According to Current

16AWG is suitable for many DC power-harness applications, but final suitability must be evaluated according to continuous current, peak current, cable length, temperature rise and duty cycle.

Larger conductor sizes can be considered for higher-power projects, subject to XT60 termination and panel-space compatibility.

3

Select Cable Length According to Equipment Layout

PCM-0532 has a standard length of 300mm. A longer cable increases installation reach but also increases conductor resistance and voltage drop.

Cable length should therefore satisfy both mechanical-routing and electrical-performance requirements rather than simply being made as long as possible.

4

Select Cable and Panel Construction According to the Environment

The UL2464 PVC jacket provides basic insulation and mechanical protection, but "UL2464 + PVC" alone does not establish outdoor, UV-resistant, waterproof or IP67 performance for the complete PCM-0532 assembly.

Long-term outdoor solar or camping applications should additionally define UV, water, temperature, panel-sealing and environmental-test requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Product FAQ

Does "60" in XT60 Mean PCM-0532 Can Continuously Carry 60A ?

No. The complete harness continuous-current capability depends on the connector, 16AWG conductors, termination, cable length, ambient temperature, heat dissipation and allowable temperature rise. PCM-0532 should not automatically be advertised as a "60A continuous-current harness" without finished-assembly validation.

What Is the Maximum Current for 16AWG ?

There is no single maximum-current value for 16AWG that applies to every harness. Continuous current must be determined from conductor material, cable length, temperature, harness bundling, equipment space and allowable temperature rise.

Can the XT60 Male and Female Ends Be Reversed ?

The gender configuration can be redesigned according to the equipment interface, but the connectors should not simply be reversed without engineering verification. Mating interface, polarity, equipment input/output definition and safety requirements must all be confirmed.

Is Red Always Positive and Black Always Negative ?

The standard PCM-0532 design defines red as positive and black as negative, but the formal drawing and electrical test should control the finished product. Wire color alone should not be used to determine the polarity of an unknown harness.

Is PCM-0532 Suitable for Solar Power Systems ?

It can be used for compatible DC connections within or between solar-power equipment, but this does not make it equivalent to dedicated PV cable or establish photovoltaic-system certification. Long-term outdoor applications also require verification of UV, water, temperature and environmental requirements.
