What is the Difference between M12 A and M12 B?

M12 A type and M12 B type are two different specifications of M12 connectors, the main difference is that the structure and pin assignment of the plug and socket are different.

M12 A-type connectors are usually used to transmit power, control signals, analog signals, etc. Both the plug and socket have 4 pins, of which 2 pins are used for power or signal transmission, and the other 2 pins are used for grounding. M12 A-type connectors are often used in automation control, robot control, industrial instrumentation and other fields.

M12 B-type connectors are usually used to transmit digital signals such as Ethernet, Industrial Ethernet, Profibus DP, CAN, etc. Both the plug and socket have 8 pins, of which 4 pins are used for data transmission, and the other 4 pins are used for power supply or signal transmission. M12 B-type connectors are usually used in industrial automation, robot control, industrial communication and other fields.

Therefore, when selecting an M12 connector, it is necessary to evaluate according to actual needs, including the signal type to be transmitted, data rate, number of connectors, protection level, environmental requirements and other factors, in order to choose the M12 connector specification that suits you.
