A console cable is not a crossover cable in the traditional sense. Although both are used to connect devices, their purpose and internal connections are different. A console cable (usually a "rollover" cable) is designed for managing network devices and is used to connect a computer's serial port (or USB interface) to the console port of a network device to help users configure the device. A crossover cable, on the other hand, is used to directly connect two similar devices (such as two computers or two switches) for data transmission.
