The CAN gateway is the core of the entire CAN network and controls the forwarding and processing of various signals of the five CAN buses in the vehicle. The basic functions include:

2. Forwarding of diagnostic packets/non-diagnostic packets.

The CAN gateway can receive network signals of different transmission rates from any CAN bus (and LIN bus), process these signals according to certain standards, and broadcast them to the vehicle network. If an ECU subscribes (receives) this signal, Then the ECU will parse the signal and do the corresponding processing.
All ECUs in the whole vehicle basically send and receive signals continuously at the speed of milliseconds or microseconds, so the gateway needs to process and forward the broadcast signals are very many and must be processed quickly.
