The role of the solar controller

The most basic function of the solar charge and discharge controller is to control the battery voltage and open the circuit, and when the battery voltage rises to a certain level, it stops charging the battery. Older versions of the controller do this mechanically by turning the control circuit on or off, stopping or starting the power delivered to the battery by the power supply.

Controllers are used in most photovoltaic systems to protect the battery from overcharging or overdischarging. Overcharging may vaporize the electrolyte in the battery, causing failure, while overdischarging the battery may cause premature failure of the battery. Overcharge and overdischarge may damage the load. Therefore, the controller is one of the core components of the photovoltaic power generation system and the main part of the balance system BOS (Balance of System).

In simple terms, the functions of solar controllers can be divided into:

1. Power adjustment function;
