If your RS485 cannot communicate, you can troubleshoot from the following aspects:
1. Check the wiring and connections:
Make sure all connections are secure and the correct pins are used. For RS485, this usually involves A (Data+), B (Data-), and ground.
Check the polarity of the differential signal. Reverse connection of A and B lines will result in no communication.
2. Terminal resistors:
Terminal resistors (usually 120 ohms) need to be installed at both ends of the RS485 bus to prevent signal reflection. If missing or installed incorrectly, it may cause communication problems.
3. Bus bias:
The RS485 bus may require bias resistors when it is idle to keep the bus in a known state when not in use. Without bias resistors, the bus may be in an uncertain state, affecting communication.
4. Device address conflict:
Confirm that the address of the device on the bus is unique. Address conflicts may cause the device to fail to respond normally.
5. Baud rate matching:
Confirm that the baud rate, data bits, stop bits, and parity bits of all devices are set consistently. If these parameters do not match, communication will not be possible.
6. Device power supply:
Make sure that the power supply of all devices is working properly and the voltage is stable. If the voltage is too low or fluctuates, it may cause communication interruption.
7. Check signal interference:
RS485 communication is easily affected in an environment with strong electromagnetic interference. You can try to use shielded cables or check in areas that may be interfered with.
8. Does the device support RS485:
Confirm that the device and interface used support the RS485 communication protocol.
By checking each item one by one, you can usually find the cause of the RS485 communication problem.
