Lithium batteries can be used without a Battery Management System (BMS), but doing so is not recommended. A BMS is designed to prevent the battery from overheating, overcharging, and discharging too quickly or too deeply, which can damage the battery or cause safety hazards. Without a BMS, the battery's performance and lifespan can be significantly reduced, and the risk of fire or explosion increases. So, it is advisable to use a BMS with lithium batteries.
