Audio Cable Wire Material Requirements

In the audio and video system, the need for signal transmission between devices requires connecting lines (audio cables) and interfaces, which play a very important role in the entire audio and video system.

Whether it is an audio cable or a video cable, it is required to have good electrical conductivity, that is, the resistivity of the wire material itself should be as small as possible.

The best electrical conductivity under normal conditions is silver, copper, gold, and aluminum. Gold and silver are expensive, so copper is the most widely used, and almost all applied wires are made of copper (aluminum is often used as high-voltage wires due to its lower density than copper).

Plastics and rubbers have high resistivity and are often used as insulating materials. The most common plugs are silver-white and copper-yellow, silver-plated copper is silver-plated, and copper-yellow is copper. Therefore, the gold-plated surface of some plugs on the market has worse electrical conductivity than copper, and only the electrical conductivity of silver-plated plugs will be improved.
