What are the advantages of RS-422/RS-485 compared to RS-232?
Since RS-422/RS-485 uses differential signaling, it is more resistant to noise, allowing the use of longer cables and/or high data rates, especially in noisy environments. Additionally, RS-485 allows multi-drop operation with up to 32 unit loads. Transceivers may use a fraction of the unit load, increasing the number of devices on the bus.
