What Is The Difference Between DIN And M12?

DIN connectors and M12 connectors are two different connector types that differ in many ways:

Dimensions: DIN connectors are usually larger than M12 connectors, while M12 connectors are usually smaller, with a diameter of 12mm, while DIN connectors can range from small to large, including 5mm, 7mm, 8mm equal size.

Number of pins: DIN connectors usually have more pins than M12 connectors. Common ones are 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 14, 16, 19, 24, 25, 37, etc. M12 connectors typically have between 2 and 12 pins.

Uses: DIN connectors are usually used to connect audio, video, power and other equipment, while M12 connectors are more suitable for transmitting digital and analog signals, data, optical fibers, etc., especially in the field of automation control.

Protection level: DIN connectors and M12 connectors can have different protection levels, but usually M12 connectors have a higher protection level, up to IP67 and IP68 levels, while DIN connectors usually have a protection level of IP65.

Installation method: The installation method of DIN connector and M12 connector is also different. Usually, DIN connector is threaded installation, while M12 connector can be installed in different installation methods such as straight plug-in type or angle plug-in type.

Therefore, choosing a connector that suits you needs to be evaluated according to actual needs, including the size of the connector, the number of pins, usage, protection level, and installation method.
